6. Coach Trip to Colca Canyon
We just got back from this coach trip to Colca canyon.  I thought it was going to be trekking, but Chloe didn't seem v.keen & we ended up on this 5 hour coach ride there on an unpaved dirt track.  We stopped off at this hut in the middle of nothing, there were some v.friendly alpaca there who kept trotting up & eating these coco leaves off our plates.  I was sick & so went to sit at the front by myself, which helped for a while but then I was really really sick & filled a carrier bag, & then had to hold it for the remaining 2 hours which was v.v.heavy.  We got to the hostel, which was OK.  I felt really weak because I'd sicked up all my breakfast & tea from the previous day & not been able to manage lunch.  The woman organising the trip kept telling me I had altitude sickness & therefore must have a headache & shouldn't go on the walk beacuse it would become unbearable, but that really wasn't true, so I did go on the walk.  It was v.barren, lots of cacti & dusty & high up.  Being outside made me feel normal again.  Don't know if I'd call it beautiful, it wasn't really green enough, but it was impressive.  Then we went to these hot springs that were brilliant, so so cold when you got out.  I went straight to bed after that so I was really hungry when I got up but the breakfast was ineadible.  We went on another walk up the mountains & got to this look out point to spot condors.  They were v.v.big, like that big animal/bird thing in Harry Potter.  Then we had lunch which was a kind of buffet thing which was v.good because the horrid things were leaveable.  It was a good trip, lots of new things & people in traditional clothes.

We're going to Cusco tomorrow to see about Inca trekking & stuff.
