7. Having a Nice Time!
After our canyon trip, we spent the day in Arequipa before our bus. It was lovely, we had v.nice food & cake & bought jewelary at markets & then went back to the hostel which had got v.sociable all of a sudden & I felt a turning point & now I'm really enjoying being away.
We got to Cusco at about 5am on monday. We met our friends Adam & Adil at about mid-day & looked round Cusco. It is v.touristy but I really like it, it feels quite exciting. We went to some markets & I had a v.wierd lunch, trout with apple &banana curry risotto.
Then we got up at 4am to go to Agua Caliente which is the little village at the bottom of the mountain with machu pichu on it. We got there about 10am & we all went to the hot springs, which weren't really that hot but v.nice & good being in water in the middle of huge foresty mountains. We had dinner & then went to have hot chocolate & play pool & watch fantastic 4 or something which Adil said was brilliant, but that was only because 1 of the characters had the same t-shirt as him, it really wsn't any good.
Then we got up at 4am again to climb the mountain. It took about 2 hours & was quite jungley & steep & dead good. So we got to Machu Pichu about 7am & wandered around for a few hours. It is really quite big & there wasn't many other people there. There were some llamas-standard.
Then me & Adam & Adil went up the massive cliff thing to get to Waynapichu. The trek was a lot more interesting because most of it was climbing, scrambling up the rocks & pulling yourself up like indiana Jones, rather than just trekking up like the last 1 had been. It was so knackering & felt so so brilliant. It was v.v.v.high & steep. Adil got a bit whiney because he was too exhausted, & kept saying he didn't understand why the Incas had to make it so high up, but it was fine. I did like the settlements, but to be honest my favorite was getting up there. It made me feel v.fit because I was a lot faster than both the boys & kept passing lots of other people - hehehe. I would've really liked to have done today's trip with auntie Kari.
At the top were some huge bolders which were quite slopey & made it look like people were going to fall off, a french man's bottle did & he almost lobbed himself over trying to get it. It was generally brilliant, but the photos don't make it look as high as it was. Then we went back & met Chloe & she had been trapped by llamas & was traumatised. Then me & Chloe walked down the hill, the boys got the bus like losers.
We were so knacked when we got back, then we got the train back to Cusco & are staying here until about Sunday.
I am brown but only in a vest shape, with a necklace ring around my neck which is v.unbecoming.
I had a moment of clarity at the canyon & decided not to be scared of dogs anymore. It didn't feel like a choice before, in fact it wasn't & I couldn't have stopped it, but at this one point in the canyon I felt suddenly v.cross with myself for ever being frightened of anything so I decided to stop & it was worked.
I may have stopped losing things, I thought I had lost my only jumper & then found it later in the street, so this is definite progress.
I have not died in an earthquake, it was in the north & we didn't know anything about it.
Is this enough spaces Richie?
