19. Auckland
The day before we left Santiago, me & Ben went on a mini adventure to try to get to the top of this hill forest thing that was on the edge of the city, it was meant to have a zoo & good views. There were cable-cars but we assumed that there would also be paths & so wandered around looking for the start of one, but we got impatient & started tramping into the woods.  We came to a kind of dead-end, with a steep-ish cliff with loose rocks & decided that it would be OK to climb, but we were wrong & we got two thirds of the way up & found ourselves clinging to the hill-side from bolders that kept dislodging & hurtling down & causing landslides.  We had to skid down flat on our backs with the rocks crashing down around us & they were really hot & burnt our palms & then Ben rolled over a wasp-nest & got stung.  We were v.grubby by the end but it was quite funny.  Then we got caught in what we think may have been a waterfall but we couldn't locate the source, it was from v.far up & we got soaked.  It took us hours to get anywhere near the top, we hadn't really prepared & were v.v.thirsty, when we got there we couldn't find the zoo or the way down really, the whole thing took ages.
  
Ben left for NZ, me & Chloe wandered around for the day waiting for our flight, I was really dreading it, but it was the best flight I've ever been on, probably the best journey.  The food was really really nice & I've never been on a plane with individual TVs before.  Now we are in Auckland, it looks v.clean & modern.  I am v.pleased to have left Spanish behind, it was really getting irritating.  We have decided to skip Australia, we were supposed to be getting to Sydney 30th Dec, & we've been looking at the hostels & for that time of year, just to stay in a dorm there is a minimum of 7nights at $90 a night, which is about 40 pounds I think, so around 300hundred pounds for a week anyway & so we're going to go straight to Asia & spend longer there.  However, I recon I'll still have to come home a little early as I've just bought perfume in duty free because I am sick of being a minger.
